The choir was founded in 2008 for the school's centenary celebration of the move from Gower Street to Hampstead. Membership has grown steadily and currently stands a 120 members and is open to the the local community, members of the school, staff and Old Gowers. There are no auditions but the ability to sing in tune, hold an independent part and most importantly, be enthusiastic are essential. All concerts are accompanied by the Centenary Orchestra which is an ad hoc ensemble using professional musicians and some of the school's best players.
We have been very lucky in securing the patronage of Dr. John Rutter, probably the country's most well-known choral composer and conductor, John Bradbury MA, Founder of the choir, Sir Brian and Lady Leveson, Kenneth Durham MA and Jeremy Witts DSO.
"Since singing is so good a thing, I wish all men would learn to sing"
William Byrd (1535 – 1623)
